AfricaSIF.org knows there is an urgent need to provide a forum where all stakeholders from corporates, financial institutions, consulting and legal firms, can come together to discuss the challenges of and opportunities for putting ESG principles into practice.  AfricaSIF.org has chosen to work with IIR due to its expertise in putting together high level conferences and training courses and its reputation for organising events for a similar audience, including Governance Week and Company Secretaries Symposium (COSECSTM), which has been running for 21 years.

As the global economy continues to suffer the consequences of opportunistic short-termism, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) issues have gained new prominence.
Responsible investing has been well and truly put on the corporate agenda in South Africa with the launch last year of the Code for Responsible Investing (CRISA), which, in a similar vein to King III, seeks to encourage best practice conduct by shareholders and companies in terms of integrating sustainability issues into their investment decisions on an ‘apply or explain’ basis.   IIR has therefore decided to organise a Sustainable Investing, Reporting and Governance Conference that will cover all the pertinent issues around ESG and responsible investing.

Key topics

What can the responsible investing community learn from the financial market crisis?
How does CRISA affect you and your organisation and how to practically apply the principles
What is RI and its fiduciary rationale and how to practically apply it?
What are the key criteria when implementing your ESG strategy?
Sustaining long-term value in your organisation
How asset/fund managers are integrating RI into their portfolio management
What constitutes sustainable business practices – RI in practice
How are asset managers achieving true ESG integration?
Risk-return correlations and reporting metrics for ESG portfolios
